back in Collingwood

I am here once again at the Westin Trillium House Resort this weekend. I left yesterday afternoon and drove to Collingwood taking the scenic route. Made it in good time (90 minutes).

I brought my knitting and plan to relax with the spouse and let the kids run wild at the resort.

Last evening, while preparing dinner in our suite, I hand spun some merino roving:

I decided to make this yarn a little more chunkier:

This morning, we woke up to a cloudy day... but our view of the pool is fab!

"Lacey" (my first ever lace project) posed for a photo on the balcony...

Last night's SnB at LK was a blast...a certain knitting celeb is getting married this coming weekend and we presented her with her "shower gift"...a spinning wheel!

a what? a bib bowl!

During a recent visit to my sister's place, I noticed she was using her fine crystal bowl for this...

... bibs!

Background info: my sister, has 9 month old twin boys...Aaron & Adam. She decided she needed a place to keep bibs handy

blame it on the rain

Fall is here and so are the grey and rainy days. I spent a good part of my afternoon organizing my stash. I pulled my ballwinder out of it's box made good use of it. I am now ready to start a few more projects. Hmmm....what to make next??

Cheer me up

I had my weekly dose of SnB at LK last night. It seems the fall weather has brought out every Toronto knitter from every nook and cranny and jammed Megan's yarn shop.

I started the evening with my famous model friend, Tamarah. We had a dinner at the Rice Bar. I devoured the yummy soup with jasmine rice, tofu, pea sprouts, bok choy and green coconut curry sauce...nice and spicy!! Finished the meal with a pot of jasmine tea.

We headed around the corner to THE knit night in T.O. Fall is definitely here when all the knitters are decked out in their finest! The shawls, wraps and sweaters...how we were all adorned by our precious knitwear.

Amy and Stephanie have returned from their book tours...I enjoyed their anecdotes of their adventures in the USA.
I treated myself once again... I bought two skeins of Blue Sky Worsted...they were on sale!!

After the loss of my picture, the Lettuce Knit community has cheered me up....

Vanished into thin air....

I purchased a brand new digital camera last Saturday before heading out to Collingwood for a relaxing weekend at the Westin Trillium House Resort. I brought my knitting bag intending to take some amazing shots of my WIPs and completed projects against the backdrop of Blue Mountain.

It was a great weekend...swimming, hot tubbing, shopping, eating, drinking...

When I returned home, my excitement could not be contained...I had a new camera with 50 photos just waiting to be uploaded! I followed the instructions to a "tee"...gasp!!! Something went terribly wrong ! The pics did not appear in any of my files on my laptop....nor are they to be found on the memory card.

I have been moping for days now...

My memories of Blue Mountain this past weekend, are just memories... in my mind forever.

My new WIP

Summer is over, kids are back to school and new projects have begun. Last week I started to knit the wrap cardigan#263 from Knitting Pure and Simple.

This is my first sweater that I am knitting top down....should be interesting! I am using Misti Cotton/silk #1324, a warm chocolate brown.

My second WIP is the French Market Bag. This will be my first felted project...should be interesting!

I have already frogged these two items once!

In addition, I am still drop spindling!!! All the roving I purchased over the summer from The Black Lamb will keep me going through the fall season.

We're off to the KW Knitter's Fair

I made the trip to Kitchener with Amy, Laura and Tamarah. Amy was a dynamic and excellent guest speaker at this annual event. She spoke about Knitting and the Internet. Check out her links.

It was a great afternoon since it was a great opportunity to get to know Amy, Laura and Tamarah. I am so fortunate that my interest in knitting has given me the spirit of friendship.

In honour of the Toronto International Film Festival, Lace Wings was completed on opening night...she made her debut on at the KW Knitter’sFair. I have decided to name my Sea Silk shawl. “Lacey”. I celebrated my fait ‘il accompli with a new purchase....a new drop spindle!

Note: I am have problems with my digital camera...I hope to upload more photos soon!

The blogging knitter

I went to my local library and borrowed a book on blogging. I found one of the popular series meant for “dummies”. I must be an advanced dummie since I have been able to manage my blog quite well on my own. After reading a few of the chapters, I have more questions than answers! I admire all the witty knitters and their well developed blogs. Thank you for the inspiration!

Where do I find time to keep up?

As a knitter, I am continuously working on something. Since my last post (it has been a while!) I have been working on my precious Lace Wings shawl. It really is starting to take shape. After the disasterous start in July, definite progress has been made during the month of August. I really was not too far off my target date of September 1st. Yeah well I will be a few weeks late.

I worked on some handspun, and completed beanie hat for the upcoming cooler temperatures.

As for blogging, I have no idea where the knitter bloggers out there have the time to verbalize their thoughts and ideas.

I spent the past week relaxing and knitting, and a quick stop at my favourite yarn shop to pick up some lovely cotton/silk yarn to make myself a cardigan.

Due to my lack of organisation and need to de-clutter my living space, I have misplaced my USB cable for my digitial camera...so no pix until later.
